Bird Toys are used to create an environment that's entertaining
for your bird while it is left alone in its cage.
Include toys that are brightly colored, have a variety of features and make
noise which entice the bird to play with them. Choose toys that are appropriate
for your bird's size. Large birds can break toys that are not suited for rough
play, and smaller birds may be scared of toys that are to large. A stimulating
environment will keep your bird healthy and happy. Birds who become bored will
sometimes scream, or begin picking their feathers because of a lack of stimulation.
Variety is the key to a keeping your bird happy. It is also important to regularly
change the toys in your birds' cage. Rotate toys to keep your bird from getting
bored with the "same old, same old". Consider it like redecorating
or rearranging the furniture in your home.
Small / Medium bird toys: Parakeets, cockatiels, and similar-sized
birds do well with plastic, wooden and rope toys that are small enough for them
to manipulate. Hiding treats in or behind toys is a great way to introduce a
new toy to the bird's enviroment.

Larger bird toys: Larger Birds such as African Greys, Cockatoos
and Macaws do best with heavy duty toys that can withstand rough play. Because
of their strong beaks and natural tendency to tear things apart choosing plastic
or "lightweight" toys is not recommended for large species.
